Lindsay Lohan to Play Ariel in The Little Mermaid Reboot? Not So Fast!

Could Lindsay Lohan play The Little Mermaid's Ariel on the silver screen? It sounds like we've got some time before that happens.
We know that Lohan wants to play the role of the teenage princess. It was just last month when she expressed interest in playing Ariel in a remake of the popular film.
She posted a side-by-side photo of herself and the cartoon version of Ariel. Lohan's original Instagram post was pretty specific in that it even asked for a specific director. “I will sing again, as #ariel #thelittlemermaid. @disney approve that. #billcondon directs it along with my sister @alianamusic singing the theme song for the soundtrack," she wrote.
The post was edited pretty quickly to just read "#thelittlemermaid."

Bill Condon just responded to LiLo's request that he direct a live-action version of The Little Mermaid.
“I hope she gets to make that movie! I feel like I was so lucky in getting this crown jewel (Beauty and the Beast), but I’ll go see her in Little Mermaid, absolutely," Condon told Vulture.
Disney, of course, has been making live action versions of several classic animated movies. There are plans for other films too (like The Lion King) to be made into live-action films.
Speculation for The Little Mermaid reboot grew quite a bit last year. Lin-Manuel Miranda is working with Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid's original songwriter) on the live-action adaption, according to a Deadline report last year.
The live-action film version of Beauty and the Beast, which was directed by Condon, opens in theaters this weekend.
