MILWAUKEE – October 30, 2009 – Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. officials are excited to announce the first show slated for Summerfest 2010. Tim McGraw will headline the Marcus Amphitheater on opening night, Thursday, June 24 at 7:30 PM along with special guests Lady Antebellum and Love and Theft.
McGraw has sold over 40 million albums and dominated the charts with 30 #1 singles. He’s won three Grammys, 14 Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM), 11 Country Music Association Awards (CMA) and 10 American Music Awards (AMA). His multi-faceted career also encompasses film, as he co-stars with Sandra Bullock in the upcoming film “The Blind Side,” scheduled for release on November 20.
The “Southern Voice” tour is in support of McGraw’s first studio album in two and a half years, following Let It Go, which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 in April of 2007. McGraw recently gave the title track, and current hit single, its national television debut on "NFL Opening Kickoff 2009 presented by EA Sports.” Southern Voice is currently No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart.
Joining McGraw on tour is country pop trio Lady Antebellum, the Best New Artist winners from both the ACM and the CMA awards in 2008. The fastest rising single of their career “Need You Now” is quickly setting the pace for their upcoming sophomore album set for release on January 26, 2010.
Love and Theft will open the 7:30 PM show. Their debut album, World Wide Open, recently opened on the Top 10 of the country albums chart and the band’s hit single “Runaway” claimed the biggest first week of digital single sales for any debut country act this year.
The on-sale date and ticket prices for this show will be announced in the near future. Check Summerfest.com for details.
