Stainless steel appliances - yes or no

Thank you so much for all your great suggestions so far as I continue to design this kitchen with Kaerek Homes for the upcoming MBA Parade of Homes Tour. Now, on to the appliances. I've heard all different suggestions when it comes to the appliances. What's the best and why? Stainless steel, black? Is there an alternative to stainless steel that doesn't show fingerprints? Please help, I want this kithen to look fabulous, but be practical for a homeower too! So leave your comments here and I look forward to reading your responses.

I'm picturing earth tones. So a blend of light to medium beiges for the floor (maybe a rock/stone look). Rich oak cabinets - Almond appliances including an over the range microwave. Fridge could be a side by side, or one where the freezer is at the bottom and the fridge portion in on the top. With the rich oak cabinetry and almond appliances, i'd add a light sandstone colored grantite countertops.

Definatly go with stainless I think it is much more appealing then a color that locks you into a permanent color sceam for the room. Granite for the counter top but make sure it isn't one with alot of pits that can catch food debris.I think black is pretty neat. The other alternitive is concreat which I've seen and was really impressed with. Make sure you ad the faucet above your stove to fill pots with. Cabinets: not to dark if it is a small room Have some with glass fronts to show off some of your nicer dishware. Be sure to include sliding shelves in the cabinet to make access a lot easier.Run your cabinet clear to the ceiling don't have a soffet. You can never have to much storage area in a kitchen. Book shelves for cookbooks on the end of a counter is a great idea if you have a lot of them and use them alot. Try to work in a window and sky lights for as much natural lighting as possible with can lights or track lighting for down lighting above the counter. The last thing I recomend is a fireplace near your dining area. To so many people the kitchen is a gathering place maybe the cenral social spot ing the house not only with family but dinner guests as well. I have seen this done also and it makes the kitchen unique.

If you ever get a chance to see Milwaukee from the water...do it! I don't know what it is about the water but everything looks beautiful when you're on the water. I took these over the weekend and just looking at them calms me. We have a beautiful city enjoy it and enjoy what's left of summer:)
