Tonight is a big night for Milwaukee Bucks mascot Bango as the Cartoon Network reveals the winner of its “Most Awesome Mascot” award. The winner will be announced on the Cartoon Network’s Hall of Game Awards tonight at 6 p.m. (CT).
Bango is up against some tough competition as he looks to beat out the Phoenix Suns Gorilla, the Phillie Phanatic and the Tennessee Titans T-Rac. The winner was determined by a fan vote and it will be revealed tonight on the Hall of Game Awards, which is a high-energy sports award event for kids.
This award would add to Bango’s long list of accomplishments. Already the reigning NBA Mascot of the Year, Bango is in his 33rd season with the Bucks and he has been energizing and entertaining Bucks fans with his high flying dunks, acrobatic moves and crazy shenanigans. After an ACL injury ended his 2008-09 campaign early, Bango came back in full force during the 2009-10 season to win the NBA’s Mascot of the Year award. He performed numerous stunts throughout the season, including his incredible dunk off a 16-foot ladder at the Bradley Center during a Bucks playoff game that made national headlines. Bango recently made an appearance at the 2011 All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles.
The ageless Bango has brought smiles and thrills to Bucks fans at home games, appearances, parades, school assemblies, hospital visits and everywhere Bucks fans celebrate since 1977. He has performed throughout the United States, Canada and China.
