Stay strong and positive!
My husband and I tried to have a baby for over six years. We then chose to adopt our beautiful daughter and two months later we were shocked to find out I was pregnant! We were then blessed with our wonderful son! Two children, just over a year apart in age! You just never know what life will bring you!

You'd be surprised how common it is. Good luck and stay positive!

Elizabeth Emotional Comments
Elizabeth - There is always a way! I went through menopause at the age of 30 and I tried to have a baby when i was 35. With shots and a great Dr. (Women's Health Care Waukesh! Wi) I got pregnant. I was able to produce two eggs and gave birth to abeautiful girl Erin on March 17, 1995. Prays to both of you!

Stay Positive & Good Luck!
I can totally relate to this. My husband and I tried for six years. I wanted nothing more than to be a mom. We told certain family members of our struggle only after we had a miscarriage. It was very difficult watching friends and family having babies during those years. It was very stressful with all the hormones I was on and all the money we were spending and not seeing any results. I could not believe that this was happening to us. However, after many fertility treatments and seeing an out of state specialist, we were blessed with twins! I wish you and your husband nothing but good luck. Prayers sent your way.

Pulling for you!
You can't give up! I tried for a year and a half for my second child, and had three miscarriages. I went through every test imaginable and spent a lot of time in clinics, and now we're 25 weeks pregnant with our son! I was just about to give up...just proves that time will tell.

You are not crazy!
I appreciate your comment of feeling like less of a women. This journey will be incredibly difficult and most around you will not understand it. We lost 6 babies two of those were tubals. My biggest advise to you is try not to get bitter. It was so hard watching everyone have babies, complain about their babies, wish they were you with no babies and so forth. We adopted three children (not all at the same time). Just know that because that is what you want (to have a child) in the end it will happen when it is suppose to. Keep a journals or make a scrapbook because in the end when you are holding that baby you will (believe it or not) not remember all this turmoil. Good luck.

Thank you for talking about this and your struggle! So many of us don't feel unable to discuss the topic of infertility. My husband and I tried for 6 years to have a baby. We suffered 2 miscarriages. When we finally figured out why I was miscarrying we got pregnant again only to give birth to a premature stillborn baby boy from a different complication. There is hope! Just over 2 weeks ago we brought home our miracle baby boy. He is perfect and 100% healthy. God has completed our miracle! Don't give up!

Let it happen when it ismeant to
Elizabeth, my heart is with you as will be my prayers. However, do not try so hard, relax and enjoy the moment and when you lease expected, you will get pregnant. Put it in God's hands and let it be His gift as every child is! Only then will you will be able to conceive. I read the comments from others and know of so many who tried so hard and think that is the problem, they are trying too hard! Then they go and adopt and while they go through all the legalities, they get pregnant! Your day will come and all of Milwaukee will have the largest baby shower ever in the city. I will plan to go there for it!

Hang in There!
I went through the same exact type of miscarriage with my first pregnancy and know exactly how Elizabeth feels. On a more positive note I now have two beautiful healthy children. Don't give up! Thanks for sharing your story! I am sure you have helped some other women who are struggling with this know that they are not alone!

One day at a time....
We had the pleasure of meeting you last year at the opening of a health clinic. Our girls met you and loved your personality. You are already a natural with young children and I pray you will be blessed to have your own. You already hear and see that you are not alone. I hope you get some insight and answers and can move forward in the process. You will celebrate soon.... One day at a time! Prayers!!

You are strong!
I know exactly where you are coming from. My husband and I have struggled with unexplained infertility for the last 5 years. We have experienced one unexplained miscarriage (also at almost 9 weeks, and days after a beautiful ultrasound), two ectopic pregnancies and two chemical pregnancies. After five years, three doctors later, multiple shots, pills, ultrasounds, surgeries, tears, heart breaks we received the news. 12 weeks ago, one stuck in there :) You are absolutely right, this is taboo to talk about. I am glad you shared your experience. We need to make this less taboo in order to support families through the loss. We deal with tough times, imaginable to many. Where we dread mother's/father's day..and friends bombarding us with "when are you having a baby?!" I usually answer with my reality...and then of course they feel bad for me, which makes it worse. Feel empowered, but don't let this take over your life. It is easier said than done, I know. Much luck to you and your husband. This too shall pass.

please don't say "relax"
That is the absolute worse thing you can tell a family dealing with infertility!! We can't relax! Between appointments, taking your temperature, meds...etc...it really becomes a second job! So really, we can't relax..and yes, we know "it will come"!!
08/15/2013 11:28AM
Educate yourself and don't give up (even though that is what they tell you to do so that it wil
After a very frustrating six years of trying I told the infertility specialist exactly what I wanted done: (artificial insemination with my husband's sperm which was treated with Percoll to increase the motility). The specialist was about to give up and recommend expensive in-vitro procedures and more gruesome tests on me. I wrote him a letter after doing my own research and it was all or nothing because we were going to give up if it didn't work. My suggestion worked the first time and I finally gave birth to a beautiful healthy baby girl! Good luck Elizabeth!!!

There is HOPE!
After 3 years of disappointment after disappointment - 3 miscarriages and 2 ectopic pregnancies, test after test, surgery, 7 rounds of IVF - some failed (5), some successful - 2 of the 7 tries - (#1 & #2 kids), and then a surprise miracle baby (#3) after all of that, I offer this.... The many years of heartache, the tears, the shots, the ultrasounds, the appointment after appointment, the ups/downs, the unbelievable amount of money...worth every moment! The wait was so hard, the road long, the fear of "not again" always in your mind just when things looked good, but along the way was also the opportunity to reach out to others that just started on their own, sometimes equally long, journey on the path of infertility and help them along the way, if even just a little, by giving them HOPE that things CAN work out. And, definitely be your own advocate ...research, ask, don't give in to "well that isn't how we do things" answers that some drs will give.

Thank you
Thank you all so much for your kind words and for sharing your stories. It definitely makes me not feel so alone. This is a hard time for Aaron and I, but we are trying not to quit and hopefully we'll be blessed with our own baby one day. Your messages mean so much to me and I appreciate them more than you'll ever know! xoxoxo - Elizabeth

All things are possible with God
I'm sorry I missed this discussion on the radio, but my advice is to stay open. Try not to focus so much on getting pregnant or having a baby, but keep visualizing the end result - your and Aaron's FAMILY. It's almost like when you do, the details fall in to place. I married my husband when I was almost 40, and we went through some of that infertility stuff. It didn't take long for our doctor to recommend IVF because of my age. We did not want to take out a mortgage just to have a baby. We weren't in a position to do that. We started looking into adopting a child with special needs. (It didn't cost anything.) The process involves going through specific things you will or will not accept, i.e. certain health problems, disabilities, gender, age range, race, etc. It feels kind of strange to do that, and I wasn't sure if I really wanted to go that route, but I tried not to think about my feelings too much. It was like we were being led through the details. It was easy. It was like riding a wave. It's amazing to me how well we were matched to the little girl we were lucky enough to welcome into our home. We ended up adopting her on her 3rd birthday. She's now an active and healthy 10 year old. Clearly we were meant to be together. We are definitely her parents and she is definitely our daughter. We couldn't be happier. In fact, this Saturday we will be celebrating Gotcha Day, the day we brought her home in 2005. You CAN have a version of what you want. I know several people who either took a long time to conceive or who had several miscarriages, and then went on to have four kids, or a boy and a girl - exactly what they wanted. My sense is that you will have your own babies, too. All the best to you and your husband! ♥☺☼♪♫ ~Kathy D.

Stay positive, hon. Whatever route you end up on, your family will find its way together. Xoxo -cupcake sandy

Stay Strong
After losing a baby at 40 weeks, you need to learn relax and not stress. It is the worst advice but I didn't get pregnant until after I was able to take time for myself. -Mom of 4 and Angel

Robin Williams, Back on the Silver Screen
We knew it was coming. When Robin Williams passed away earlier this year, he left behind a handful of completed film projects. One of them was Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. It's due out on Christmas Day, and features Robin reprising his role as Teddy Roosevelt. Check out the trailer for a little glimpse of Robin. One of this lines is oddly prophetic. "I think it's safe to say that we're in a bit of trouble."

How Much for That Lion in the Window?
On Monday, the costume that Bert Lahr wore as the Cowardly Lion in the 1939 classic film, The Wizard of Oz, went up for auction. It was part of a group of memorabilia offered for sale at Bonhams auction house - "TCM Presents: There's No Place Like Hollywood." Other items up for sale included Sam's piano from Casablanca, a gown worn by Marilyn Monroe, and Clark Gable's jacket from Gone With the Wind. As you sit and maybe watch The Wizard of Oz over the holidays, think about this. That outfit worn by the King of the Forest just sold for $3 million.

Barack & Meryl, Sitting in a Tree?
On Monday afternoon, President Obama presented the Presidential Medal of Freedom - the nation's highest civilian honor to singer Stevie Wonder, TV journalist Tom Brokaw, and Ethel Kennedy, wife of the late Robert F. Kennedy. Oh, and he gave one to his girlfriend too. That would be Meryl Streep, the actress. “I love Meryl Streep,” the president said in front of all assembled "Her husband knows I love her. Michelle knows I love her. There's nothing either of them can do about it.” No real scandal there. Just a nice bit of affection. Oh, and he poked a little fun at his love too - pointing out that she sang Abba - "which, you know, that's something."

Sew Watt, Its Juss a Tipo!
Maybe it's time for the signmakers in Los Angeles to invest in SpellCheck - or maybe just a proofreader. Earlier this month, a sign sub-contractor installed a new highway marker on the northbound side of the 710 Freeway. The sign marked the exit for Olympic Boulevard. Except it said "Olimpic" Boulevard instead. It took someone at CalTrans a full day to recognize the problem. A few days later, it was covered up with a black tarpaulin. And it will be replaced by the sub-contractor at no charge to the city. Except for the cost of the embarrassment of having hung in there in the first place.   OOPS: Exit sign on 710 Freeway misspells Olympic Blvd as 'Olimpic' http://t.co/SjXYEUjVgU Pic by @shelbygrad pic.twitter.com/koDffd2usV — Kimi Yoshino (@kyoshino) November 25, 2014

"Something Chases You, Run!"
It's the first "genetically-modified hybrid." With those ominous words, we welcome you to Jurassic World. It's 23 years later, and the interactive park envisioned by Richard Attenborough's character in the original Jurassic Park movies is up and running. It's a hybrid between Disney World, Sea World and Busch Gardens, featuring real live dinosaurs - plus a new concoction, cooked up by the scientists. That would be the "genetically-modified hybrid," and of course, it will run amok. Check out the trailer for the film - the film will be released in June of 2015. What do you think? Exciting and new - or just a rehash of the originals?

Hit the Mark, or Miss By a Mile?
Critics are saying this skit from last weekend's Saturday Night Live marks a return of the show's political comedy chops. They resurrected the old ABC show, Schoolhouse Rock, and tossed in President Obama's recent executive order concerning immigration, and presented a tutorial on how things work on Capitol Hill. What do you think: does it Hit the Mark, or Miss By a Mile. (I fall in the latter category, but I'm interested to see what other people think.)   Oh, and by the way - if you want to read how the skit is entirely wrong on the fact side anyway, check out this article by ThinkProgress.

Black Sea Devil Captured
Researchers from the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute announced a fascinating find over the weekend - a video of the rare deep-sea anglerfish, also known as the Black Sea Devil. The film was shot off the coast of Monterey, California, about 1900 feet below the surface. The scientists were very excited, as they believe it's the first video of this species, "alive and at depth." The narration is a little dry, and the fish is not pretty. Still, it is fascinating...   Want some chuckles, though? Check out this little video, called "True Facts About the Angler Fish," produced by the same institute.

Okay, sportscasters are given to hyperbole. That I'll grant you. But they may be on to something with the touchdown catch Odell Beckham Jr made on Sunday for the New York Giants against the Dallas Cowboys. One sportcaster calls it, "Impossible!" And watching it in slow-mo, he and everyone else might just be right. And the more amazing part, after the game, Odell told Bob Costas that he and some of his teammates practice catches like that all the time.  Your browser does not support iframes.

Did She Diss Em or Not?
Some writers are saying that Iggy Azalea dissed Eminem on Sunday at the American Music Awards. She picked up the award both for best rap artist and for best rap/hip-hop album for The New Classic, her debut album. In her acceptance speech, she said, "It means so much that I can stand here against Eminem and Drake and come out with this. It's amazing." Watch and listen...   Some believe that was a shot at Eminem, who definitely took a shot at Iggy in his new song, Vegas, with a lyric that said, "Put that sh*t away, Iggy." But she responded on Twitter after the song was released. And it really does sound like she's just letting sleeping dogs and Eminems lie...   im bored of the old men threatening young women as entertainment trend and much more interested in the young women getting $ trend. zzzz — IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) November 20, 2014

Cuddle Up to Me - Professionally, Of Course
Some would call Samantha Hess's business an overnight success - but you can't stay overnight. Samantha runs a shop in Portland, Oregon called Cuddle Up to Me - and it's a professional cuddle shop. Stay with me now. For $60, a customer can get sixty minutes of hugging, or as it's been described, "the level of human contact that we want or need in order to be our optimal selves." Sure, it sounds like a front for something, but Samantha says it's a great idea, one that came to her when she really needed a hug. "I was at a place where I thought paying someone to hug me and not have ulterior motives sounded like a great idea," she told an interviewer from The Independent. "I decided why can't this be a thing that we can easily and safely reach for?" It's all on the up-and-up. Everyone stays dressed, hugs and hand-holding are the only items on the menu, and the show is open Monday through Saturday. By the way, Samantha's been at it for a year or so. But all of a sudden, the media are getting hold of the story, and it's gone viral.   What's going on here? If you said professional cuddling… then you are correct. Katy Razzes Paparazzi
Katy Perry's fed up with paparazzi, especially the guys who were hounding her every step this weekend in Australia. She's in Sydney on her Prismatic World Tour, and all she wanted was a little quiet time on the beach. Not too much to ask, right? Except for the "perverted and disgusting" paparazzi, salivating at the prospect of a shot of Katy in her bikini that could be sold to the highest tabloid bidder. Katy took to Twitter to fire a cannon in their direction.   pic.twitter.com/rm7kL37Bj2 — KATY PERRY (@katyperry) November 22, 2014 She even posted some pictures of the offenders.   THESE ARE A FEW OF THE STALKERS: pic.twitter.com/1JtHSIVuqc — KATY PERRY (@katyperry) November 22, 2014

Poohphobia Plagues Poland
At first glance, this story reads like something the folks at The Onion would make up. But as you read on and look at the source, it looks like it's a legitimate story. There's a town in Poland called Tuszyn that's looking for a mascot for its new playground. But the town officials categorically rejected Winnie the Pooh. Why? They say the cartoon bear is "inappropriately dressed" and his sexuality is "dubious." You have to read the story. It's laugh out loud funny - and sad, all at the same time. (And if it turns out this ISN'T real - nicely played, whoever pulled this off!)

Beyonce released a video for her new single, "7/11," over the weekend. They're calling it homemade - it looks like it could have been shot on a cell phone, all around Queen Bey's house, featuring cameos by Baby Blue Ivy and maybe even Hubby Zee. It's energetic, but seems to go out of its way to feature undergarments - on Beyonce and on her dancers. O, Canada, Thank You
The other night, in Toronto, the hometown Maple Leafs played the Nashville Predators. As is custom, both the Canadian and American national anthems were performed. A Realistically Proportioned Fashion Doll
There's been a lot of pushback recently against the unrealistic proportions of Barbie dolls. Except for those women who slave away to look like human Barbies, real women simply don't look like that. So how would a "realistically proportioned fashion doll" fare in today's toy market? Toy designer Nikolay Lamm aims to find out, with Lammily, a doll based on the proportions of the average 19-year-old woman. To add to the realism, Lammily comes with stick-on tattoos, cellulite, stretch marks, scars and more. Check out the video of a bunch of school kids getting to meet Lammily and compare her to a normal Barbie doll. It's pretty interesting...
